LizardTech - MrSID image compression
If you share large scientific or pre-press images you know that even WinZip can't shrink them to a more modem friendly size. Well, LizardTech has applied wavelet image compression to the problem in the form of $495 MrSID software that can reduce high-res images down to as little as 3 percent of original size without visible loss of detail. Plug-ins for Photoshop or your web browser are a free download. What's more, the software can effectively "up-res" images, adding detail to large-format output.

Visio 2000 Professional
The newly released Visio Professional 2000 promises to be the Swiss army knife of IT diagramming tools. Its new features include updated network shapes (such as VPNs and firewalls), automatic diagramming of popular database, C++/Java/VB reverse engineering technology for generating class diagrams, and improved web site mapping with collapsible branches.
