Panja 1000/2000
Panja demonstrated their product line which consumers use as a gateway to view high bandwidth content on their current entertainment systems. Today, they unveiled their EP3 technology which selects and decodes MP3, MPEG, Real Audio. Real Video and encoding schemes. This fall, Panja will be delivering three new subscription services: broadband entertainment link, remote home control and personalized IP narrowcasting. These services range from $10-$20 per month. The small blue device is a cool wireless controller. Denny Dent performed his "art" at the Panja booth - see coverage.

Master Lock text filter screen
Fortres Grand announced Master Lock - a parental Internet and computer security product which helps keep their children from undesirable Web sites, private files and accidental destruction of critical files. Certain textual information sent over the wire can also be filtered from being sent. Master Lock is based on the proven Fortres 101 code, a product for schools which has been keeping students from undesirable sites in schools for nearly four years. It retails for $29.95, is in final beta and should be available the first week in August 1999.

InfoOffice Administration Screen
InfoOffice demonstrated their Internet and Intranet publishing tool. It assists "mere mortals" to add, change and delete Web content without any HTML experience whatsoever (if you can type you can create and modify web content). This helps makes changes to Web sites faster since users can correct problems and add content without having to run to the IT department or Webmaster to perform the work for them. If a system administrator makes changes to a template (like correcting a phone number), all web pages based on that template can be immediately updated. Since this product is template based, interactive elements such as JavaScript, Java applets, Active X, DHTML and ASP can also be easily updated. Changes are first made on a publishing server, which holds the server side of the InfoOffice application. The created pages are then published to the live server. InfoOffice creates pages using a database, but always uses static pages, unless personalization or form response is required. This makes Web Sites faster - why render a page "on the fly" that doesn't change for each user?. The minimal version of InfoOffice is nearly $18,000 and a typical installation is $30,000. Depending upon options, additional features and the level of customization, prices are higher. The Publishing server runs on NT4 Service Pack 3/Option Pack 4 and the static pages can exist on any Web server. InfoOffice appeared to be a very powerful and useful program - I was impressed.
