Adobe Photoshop 5.5

GIF Animation
Tightly coupled with the Photoshop 5.5 program is ImageReady 2.0, which includes most of the Web features, and GIF animation is one of the most outstanding. Without reading any manual or help file, I sat down and within minutes had a fully functional GIF animation. The process works much like you'd expect and is just like making a frame by frame, stop-motion animation, only easier. The integration of the Photoshop "layers" is superb and all you have to do is to display the layers you want, "capture" this frame, change the displayed layers to the next frame, capture again and repeat. A full "VCR-like" control makes playback testing easy, before the GIF file is even created. Groups of frames can easily be copied, inserted or deleted and the display time of each frame can be individually set. The entire process lets you concentrate about the look and creativity of the animation, instead of the technical details.
