Macromedia Studio MX
Powerful New combination
by Rick Smith (May 29, 2002)

Macromedia has combined many of its powerful web development tools into a single integrated suite, Studio MX. The key features of this suite are its consistent user interface and the integrated workflow that helps accelerate your productivity. Color management, code editing, property inspection and panel management appear seamless, when moving between applications, in this suite.

Macromedia Studio MX combines the power of these packages:

  • Macromedia Dreamweaver MX
  • Macromedia Flash MX
  • Macromedia Fireworks MX
  • Macromedia FreeHand 10

along with a developer edition of Macromedia ColdFusion MX Server, to assist the development of virtually any web-based project.

Over 2.4 million developers and designers use some combination of the previous releases of these individual products. Macromedia Studio MX is available immediately with introductory pricing at $799. (The included products will still be available individually.) This suite will also be available in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swedish versions in the future.

Editorial comment: I feel that the key benefit of Studio MX is the overall integration from the drawing level (FreeHand) up to the system development level (Dreamweaver, Flash, ColdFusion).

Reviews OnLine will be reviewing this complete studio -- Stay tuned.
