Adobe Systems Incorporated began shipping the latest version of their world's leading professional image editing software today. Photoshop 5.5 now seamlessly integrates with the included ImageReady 2.0, which assists graphics professionals to produce high quality images for both the Web and print. Some of the new, advanced Web features are JavaScript rollover creation, image slicing, animation and Web graphics optimization. Photoshop 5.5 will have an estimated street price of $609. Registered Photoshop 5.0 and ImageReady 1.0 users, in North America, can upgrade for the special price of $129 (via rebate) until May 2000. Registered users of previous versions of Photoshop can upgrade for $199. At PC Expo last month, I saw a demo of this new version and the new features are superb. The background elimination feature, alone, is worth the price of the upgrade.
