PowerQuest Corporation announced the latest version (4.0) of their Drive Image and Drive Image Pro products. Drive Image is a software product that assists in the backup of hard drive partitions, either directly to another hard drive (cloning) or as an image file. This image file contains not only the “data files” on your computer, but also the Desktop and Network Settings as well, including the entire Registry and all the installed software. Drive Image can also retrieve INDIVIDUAL files off this image file, which makes it a useful tool for accidental file deletion recovery as well. Now you are able to completely backup your hard drive, be able to COMPLETELY retrieve it for those big disasters as well as file recovery and archives. Having good and complete backups will also make disaster and damage recovery much easier and faster, with less downtime.
I feel that the most significant addition to Drive Image Version 4 is its ability to store drive image files directly to re-writable IDE, SCSI or ATAPI MMC2-compliant CD-R/W drives. Now you will be able to backup your system directly to a CD-R/W drive, without having to transfer image files to an intermediate hard drive. This will make backups much simpler and faster. Now there should be NO excuse of why you don’t have a backup of your computer.
