Fall Auto Rally 2001
held at the Volo Auto Museum -- Volo, Illinois
by Rick Smith
While most people don't want to "take a ride" in a police car, especially the back seat, I jumped at the opportunity to drive this car. While driving it, the reactions of other drivers were quite interesting to see when a marked police car was behind them. People drove more slowly, used their turn signals and stopped using their cell phones in traffic.

The instrument panel was quite standard -- I felt there would be more information on the dashboard. If the information panel was directly in front of the officer, they wouldn't have to move their head sideways or their eyes off the road.

This vehicle was a simply configured demonstrator and would be customized by each police department. (There was no shot gun holder on this one -- that is an optional feature.)
